Just like the previous 2016 edition, the next Cadillac SRX 2017 is still a great choice if you are looking for an entry level luxury crossover SUV. It is especially true if you are looking for one which base trim is already packed with many features for totally convenience drive and ride. Everything the Cadillac SRX crossover has is driver oriented, as proven by the presence of CUE or Cadillac User Experience electronics interface. It has a cool futuristic layout that will make you feel like you are using your smartphone.
If you prefer the leather upholstery covering the cabin interior, consider at least Luxury trim or higher ones. Elegant and high quality leather upholstery aside, higher trim levels also offer you cargo cover as well as cargo management, which will be really useful if you often haul a lot of cargo especially for long trip. Convenience features aside, higher trims are also equipped with high-tech safety equipment. It includes standard rear cross-traffic alert system and rearview camera for Luxury trim. As for Performance and Premium trims, there is Driver Assistance package that features adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and automatic collision preparation to minimize impact from collision situation. Don’t forget the fact that the 2017 edition even already achieves 5-star safety rating from NHTSA too.
The compact luxury SUV is available in four different trim levels. They are Base, Luxury, Performance, and Premium. The futuristic user interface aforementioned is already available as standard for Base trim, paired with an 8-inch display screen. The SRX Base even already has premium leatherette upholstery covering the cabin, 8-way power driver seat, On Star, in-car 4G-LTE WiFi, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and 8-speaker Bose sound system equipped with HD and radio satellite as well as CD player.
Under the hood, it seems like there will be significant changes related to the powertrain specifications. There is still the same 3.6L V6 engine generating total output of 308 horsepower in addition to torque of 265 lb.-ft. The engine is matched to a 6-speed automatic and front-wheel drive system as standard. Even so, all-wheel drive is also available as option for all trims. In overall, if you look back at the previous 2016 edition, SRX may not perform as amazing as its competitors. However, it is still reasonably acceptable as the crossover SUV doesn’t perform poorly anyway.
The company, however, has not released information for the base MSRP officially yet. Since it is a luxury compact SUV we are talking about, you may not expect to pay for less than $48,000, the base MSRP for the previous 2016 Cadillac SRX, which is reasonable for a luxury car segment.
Equipped with rich standard features, the new Cadillac SRX 2017 is again and again a brilliant choice for entry level luxury compact SUV offering convenience and luxury packed as one. Even though the cargo room is not quite generous, extra 61 cubic-feet when rear seats are folded down will not be dissatisfying at all, anyway.
